abstract = "The use of geotechnologies as an environmental analysis tool has
been consideredprimordial to environmental and geographic
sciences. The development of new tools capable of facilitating the
technical procedures in the geosciences, especially in terms of
Remote Sensing, is also very important. Free software such as
Quantum Gis, as well as being easily accessible to the entire
academic community, are being refined while new plugins such as
the semi-automatic classification plugin are being developed and
improved, with the main purpose of supervising classification. The
methodology of this research was based on the use of OLI and TIRS
images on board the Landsat-8 satellite, to perform digital
processing and image classification followed by surface
temperature analysis. The objective of this work was to analyze
the relationship between the estimation of surface temperature and
the use and occupation of the soil of the Jo{\~a}o Pessoa-PB
city, using the semi-automatic classification plugin and the OLI
and TIRS sensor images on board of the Landsat-8 satellite. The
results pointed to the influence of the urban spot in the
variations of the estimates of surface temperatures, showing the
usefulness of this tool for geospatial analyzes of natural and
urban environments. It was possible to conclude from this work
that urbanization is associated with temperatures of surface, and
it is necessary to deepen this study based on the model of
urbanization of the city and its main trends of urban growth.",
